Role focus - This is for the role of 'Assistant Team Manager' here in Gateshead's Social Care Academy - You must be qualified Level 2 Practice Educator, or working towards level 2 in order to be eligible for this job role - The Assistant Team Manager role includes: - Supporting NQSWs and Students across the wider social work workforce - - To supervise the practice and decision making of Social Work practitioners, whilst developing the skills of individuals and teams ensuring the highest standards of practice - - To chair meetings, including planning and strategy meetings, that ensures effective and safe decision making, - To support the Team Manager to scrutinise performance and implement effective and timely improvement and quality assurance functions to ensure that all record keeping, and report writing is timely and accurate, kept up to-date and fully compliant with the Council’s recording systems and quality standards and evidences the voice of the child/young person and their journey - - To participate in such activities as directed by the Team Manager that contribute to ongoing review and improvement of practice and service standards within a culture of learning and continuous improvement - - To provide leadership and people management that creates a culture for teams and individuals to perform at their best - - To take responsibility for ensuring individual practice is subject to continuous improvement and meets with local and national professional standards, including attending training and professional development events and activities relevant to the role and necessary for registration with SWE and participating positively in professional supervision and annual appraisal (A&D) review Candidate profile - Social work registration with Social Work England, SSSC, Social Care Wales or NISCC as applicable to the role location, or confirmed eligibility where qualified practice is required. - Relevant social care experience in a UK local authority, community, safeguarding or provider setting. - Right to work, professional references and role-specific compliance before placement. - Children's services experience, including statutory, safeguarding, assessment or family support work where required. Published pay/rate: GBP 27.03/hr PAYE. Working pattern: 2026-08-31 to 2027-02-15; 09:00-17:00. Setting: Local authority, community social care or provider service.
